Known forAnti-imperialist journalism

Wilfred Graham Burchett (16 September 1911 – 27 September 1983) was an Australian journalist who reported on conflicts in Europe and Asia throughout the Cold War. Burchett was notable for being one of the few Western journalists who reported accurately on socialist countries and the crimes of imperialist countries during the Cold War.

Burchett was the first Western journalist to report on the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, earning the ire of the U.S. government who were attempting to conceal the effects of the bombs. Seeing the devastation inflicted upon innocent Japanese people by the West and his treatment by Western governments helped radicalize Burchett towards anti-imperialism and he would go on to cover the DPRK and Vietnam favourably in their wars against Empire.[1]
