Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a US propaganda outlet. Radio Free Asia is a sister organization to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, both sharing similar missions. RFA media is available in several Asian languages and mainly spreads imperialist slander about the DPRK and China.
History[edit | edit source]
RFA was established in 1996 with funding from the U.S. government, specifically through the International Broadcasting Bureau (IBB), which is now part of the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM).[5]
Claims[edit | edit source]
China's Genocide of Muslims[edit | edit source]
Radio Free Asia has repeatedly falsely claimed that the Chinese government is actively committing a genocide against Uyghur Muslims.[6]
DPRK Fashion Police[edit | edit source]
Radio Free Asia claimed that the DPRK has fashion police that stop people from wearing leather jackets.[7] They also claimed that the DPRK has banned shirts with foreign lettering, long or dyed hair, and tight jeans worn by women.[8]
DPRK Squid Game Execution[edit | edit source]
Radio Free Asia claimed that the DPRK executed a man for smuggling and selling copies of "Squid Game", gave a life sentence to the student who bought one of the drives, sentenced six others who watched it to five years of hard labor, and fired the teachers and administrators involved, banishing them to remote mines.[9]
