On 13 June 2025, the zionist entity launched a series of air strikes on the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the aim of sabotaging the Iranian nuclear program, decapitating their military structure, and terrorizing the civilian population. The attacks were dubbed Operation Nation of Lions, alternatively translated as Operation Rising Lion.

In retaliation, Iran launched its own Operation True Promise 3.

As a result of the attacks, flights where suspended at Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport, while the airspace over the entity had been nearly entirely cleared.

American officials were informed in advance of the strikes, according to Benjamin Netanyahu, stating "I leave the American position to the Americans. We updated them ahead of time. They knew about the attack. What will they do now? I leave that to President (Donald) Trump. He makes his decisions independently"[1] In a video message later that day. Leading to the U.S. advising that Americans leave the region, as in Iraq, Bahrain and Kuwait, prior to Israeli strike in Iran.[2]
