Avram Noam Chomsky (born December 7, 1928) is a Statesian public intellectual and prominent leader of the compatible left which has received major funding from the congressional military industrial complex.[3][4] He supported the bombing of Libya and Syria[5] and is opposed to Vladimir Lenin.[6] However, he is against the U.S. blockade of Cuba[7] and has denounced the USA's New Cold War against China and occupation of Korea.[8]

Chomsky's worldview revolves around his belief in free speech absolutism, the notion that all ideas much be allowed, no matter how reactionary or untrue. Although Chomsky regularly condemns Statesian imperialism and other reactionary regimes, he also denounces any measure taken by progressives to defend a society against reactionary influence. His anarchist sympathies limits his outlook to seeing all government action that restricts individual freedom as "authoritarian" without any nuance applied.[5]

Noam Chomsky maintained a close personal and intellectual relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein beginning around 2015, involving regular meetings, email exchanges on politics and social events, and mutual favors long after Epstein's 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor.[9][10] Chomsky described Epstein as a "highly valued friend" and "regular source of intellectual exchange," praising his curiosity, knowledge, and connections, while Epstein provided financial support including a $20,000 donation to a Kol Israel Foundation project coordinated by Chomsky's wife Valeria and genetic testing kits for Chomsky's family.[11]

In 2019, amid "horrible" media scrutiny over their association, Chomsky advised Epstein to simply "ignore it"; conversely, Epstein offered Chomsky strategic introductions, such as to Steve Bannon or Ehud Barak.[12] Their ties included invitations for Caribbean trips (with no confirmed visits to Epstein's island, though the two have been pictured sitting together on a private plane),[9] as revealed in U.S. Justice Department and congressional document releases; Chomsky later downplayed the association as occasional and financial, insisting it was "none of anyone's business."[13]
