It is a major mouthpiece for United States fascism and liberalism. A recent article published on 2 February 2024 and written by Thomas Friedman (a three-times Pulitzer winner) horrifically dehumanized the Palestinian people, in the mist of the Palestinian genocide and the other peoples of the middle east by comparing them to bugs. Per Ben Norton, "the NY Times is comparing victims of US-Israeli genocide and colonialism to insects.
Controversies
Disinformation
The BBC has a documented history of spreading pro-Western propaganda and disinformation.

In a 2021 video depicting the recovery of Wuhan from the COVID-19 pandemic, the BBC deliberately edited footage from the city with a color filter, giving it a grayish and smog-like appearance. The use of the "underworld filter" resulted in widespread ridicule from citizens online.

In another piece from the same year, the BBC edited footage from foreign vloggers in China using the same "underworld filter" again. British vlogger Jason Lightfoot made a response video presenting his original footage and the edited version from the BBC side-by-side. Lightfoot mocked the BBC's lack of journalistic integrity, noting its involvement in spreading false claims about weapons of mass destruction prior to the 2003 Invasion of Iraq.

The dissemination of disinformation by the BBC, as well as the British government ban on CGTN, contributed to China's decision to ban the BBC.

NATO connections
BBC producer Victoria Cook was funded by NATO from 2007 to 2008. Former BBC correspondents Oana Lungescu and Mark Laity and producer David McGee left the BBC to work for NATO. BBC information security specialist Terence Sach was previously a security analyst for the British military. Technical consultant Bojan Lazic worked as a psychological operations specialist for NATO during the bombing of Yugoslavia.

Right-wing Bias
In 2023, BBC refused to broadcast an episode of a nature documentary featuring Sir David Attenborough, fearing a "right-wing backlash" over "its themes of the destruction of nature”.

Transphobia
In October 2021, the BBC published an article titled "We're being pressured into sex by some trans women", which argues that lesbian women are being "pressured and coerced into accepting trans women as partners" and "shunned and even threatened for speaking out". The article drew heavy criticism for its bad methodology and blatant transphobia. The BBC also gave a platform to Bev Jackson (a co-founder of the transphobic hate group the LGB Alliance) and Lily Cade (an actress, adult film director, and serial rapist) who, after the article's publication, called for the lynching of several high-profile trans women. Cade's contribution to the article has since been deleted, though the rest of the article is still up at the time of writing.

Zionism
On August 12, 2025, the BBC broadcast covering a target IDF attack of journalist asked "There's the question of proportionality. Is it justified to kill five journalists when you were only targeting one?" . "We begin to see racialization appear in Europe with groups such as the Irish and Roma. As mercantile capitalism began to emerge, this racialization develop into racism to justify colonialism, slavery, genocide, and the oppression of indigenous people using educational and religious institutions.

Slavery and under development and colonialism
Pre-colonial slavery in Africa and the Arab slave trade had a different and impact on the populations made slaves that that of European chattel slavery. People where reduced to slaves in times of war, as punishment for crimes, and to pay of debts thereby being primarily a form of servitude where on was still considered a human despite the diffrent legal status and limitations. It was the European introduction of race that created the chattel slavery to which persons where completely strip of their humanity to a be property extending to children with race being the justification for doing so rather than a repayment or punishment.

Walter Rodney explains that , "The slave trade on the Indian Ocean has been called the " East African Slave Trade" and the "Arab Slave Trade" for so long that it hides the extent to which it was also a European Slave Trade."

Basic Overview
Racism both a social construct and a from of bigotry based on race that during mercantile capitalism was development as a justification for slave labor of those being colonized. As such, it is deeply intertwined with capitalism , its institutions, and its ideologies such as Liberalism ,Conservatism and fascism . Racism cannot not limited to an individual attitude or perception but rather understood in its relation to labor, its culture ( white supremacy culture) , and it systematic character (media, education, global trade, etc. ).

Racialization
A common misconception is the notion that racism always existed by referring to tribalism which ignores the key component of race as a concept. In order to have a race, on must be racialized by other party typically for the purpose of justifying the oppressive and exploitation down to the party being racialized.

A look at history demonstrates peoples having tensions, conflicts, and exploiting fellow people but not racializing being used to do so. For example, the " barbarians" Greeks referred to where had various backgrounds, cultures, and color. These peoples sought labor and or was apart of the slave labor force. As Kostas Vlassopoulos noted " In the ancient world, the processes of violent slave-making could potentially turn anybody into a slave, irrespective of ethnicity, wealth, status and gender". "We begin to see racialization appear in Europe with groups such as the Irish and Romania.
