The New York Times is a Statesian bourgeois newspaper. It has historically supported U.S. imperialism and far-right governments. Before publishing its articles, The New York Times sends them to the U.S. government for approval.
It is a major mouthpiece for United States fascism and liberalism. A recent article published on 2024-02-02 by Thomas Friedman (a three-times Pulitzer winner) horrifically dehumanized the Palestinian people, in the mist of the Palestinian genocide and the other peoples of the middle east by comparing them to bugs. Per Ben Norton, "the NY Times is comparing victims of US-Israeli genocide and colonialism to insects. This is the contemporary equivalent of Nazi rhetoric that dehumanized their victims as cockroaches. Except now fascist ideology is so mainstream in the US, NYT columnist Thomas Friedman uses it."
